Adoption applications are a requirement. There are no exceptions to this rule. CCAR is a state sanctioned rescue, all animals must have an adoption application filled out.
As we are a foster home based rescue (we do not have a public shelter building to visit animals) an application is mandatory before a meet and greet is scheduled. We absolutely will not (under any circumstances) give out our volunteer foster’s personal addresses or contact information before an application is approved.
Adoption applications can take 10-14 business days to process. Sometimes longer if there are multiple apps for the same animal. Please understand all of our volunteers that process applications have full-time jobs and full-time commitments outside of the rescue. We do not have any paid employees, everyone helps in their own personal spare time.
**Applications can take longer to process depending on background checks, reference contacts, and vet reference contacts.
There is a non-refundable application fee of 10.00. This ensures the applicant is serious about adopting and helps the rescue with other costs. This fee is required to be paid before your app will be processed.
The adoption fee is non-refundable. It is due upon finalization of the adoption. As is the final adoption agreement.
Please make sure to fill out your application completely and honestly. Any incomplete applications will not be processed.
***If your application is approved you will be contacted to schedule a meet ‘n’ greet. It is a requirement with applying. A home visit may also be a requirement, at the discretion of Coal Country Animal Rescue.***
**IF ADOPTING A YOUNG KITTEN/PUPPY A CERTIFICATE OF SPAY/NEUTER IS REQUIRED BY 6 MONTHS OF AGE.**
**We DO NOT adopt out single kittens under the age of 6 months. Single kitten syndrome is the leading cause of kitten return rate to shelters and rescues. You must have another age appropriate cat/kitten or cat friendly dog for a young kitten to bond to, if applying for only one.**
*WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DENY AN ADOPTION FOR ANY REASON, OR NO REASON AT ALL.*
IF ANYONE IS DENIED AN ADOPTION IT DOESN’T NECESSARILY MEAN THE APPLICANT IS NOT A GOOD FIT TO ADOPT A DOG OR CAT. IT COULD BE THE DOG OR CAT INQUIRED ABOUT IS NOT A GOOD FIT FOR THEIR HOME, ENVIROMENT, OR LIFESTLYE, ETC.
Adoptions are not on a first come-first serve basis. Applicants will be chosen by the board based on what the most suitable home for the animal is. CCAR does their best to ensure it is the best fit for both the animal and any/all family members in the home.
CCAR currently will only adopt out of state to Minnesota, South Dakota and Montana.
